Classical Pilates Teacher Training Programme

At the Precision Pilates Academy we offer a fully Comprehensive and Authentic Classical Pilates Teacher Training programme which runs over the course of a year. 

You will receive fom the course extensive tutor support, excellent resources, many opportunities to practice, and with small training numbers, flexible learning options.

You will learn Authentic Classical Pilates by following the Classical Method and seeking to remain as close as possible to the work of Joseph Pilates and the teachers to whom he passed his Method. In learning and embodying the Classical Method, you will be able to fully undestand and interpret the whole Pilates system.

 

During the training weekends you will find a friendly and encouraging environment in which to learn. In addition you will receive further support between the weekend sessions so you will not feel lost or left behind.

Course Oveview

The couse is entitled Comprehensive because it covers the work on the Mat and the following pieces of Apparatus:

  • Reformer

  • Cadillac & Tower

  • High Chair

  • Wunda Chair 

  • Arm Chair

  • Ladder Barrel

  • Spine Corrector

  • Arc Barrel

  • Pedi Pole

  • Magic Circle

  • Foot Corrector

  • Toe Corrector

We offer two pathways to becoming a fully Authentic Comprehensive Classical Pilates Teacher

If you already have a recognised Pilates qualification, we offer a complete bridging course with the Comprehensive Teacher Certificate.

If you have no existing Pilates qualification, we offer a complete course with an internationally accredited Level 3 Mat qualification in addition to the Comprehensive Teacher Certificate.

Course Structure

Both courses are delivered simultaneously over 8 weekends and follow a spiral format; teaching Mat and Apparatus through Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels.

Beginner Series:          2 weekends during February and March

Intermediate Series:  4 weekends during May, June, September and October

Advanced Series:        2 weekends during November and December

Course Content

You will learn:

  • The history of the Pilates Method and how that was handed down from the first generation of teachers.

  • The complete Repertoire of exercises undertaken on the Mat and the Apparatus listed above.

  • Intergated Anatomy and Physiology.

  • The most common difficulties clients experience when undetaking the Method and how to breakdown the exercises to help specialist populations (clients with medical restrictions and pathologies).

 

In addition to attending the weekends you will be required to amass teaching, self practice and observation hours.​

For those new to the Pilates Method, you will be asked to reach 600 hours by the time you take your final exam: 200 hours for the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Series respectively. For those on the bridging course you will be asked to reach 300 hours in the same ratio before you take your final exam.

You will receive:

  • 120 hours of direct teaching

  • A fully detailed workbook covering all the exercises

  • Access to the incredible 360° Pilates Trainee Access Programme, which details all the execises in video format 

  • Access to apprentice meetings for the duration of the course.

About us

Adrian, the principal tutor, has trained extensively in both the Classical and Contemporary Method of Pilates. He has found the Classical Method has strengthened his body and developed his movement in a way he had not experienced in other forms of Pilates and fitness training. For Adrian, the Classical Method seemed to connect all the dots and answer many outstanding questions.

Adrian trained in Classical Pilates with Kirk Smith at the Classical Pilates Centre. Kirk is a second generation teacher having studied under first generation teachers: Romana Kryzanowska, Mary Bowen and Jay Grimes.

Adrian also trained in Pilates with Joanne Cobbe when she was principal tutor of the Pilates Institute and worked for her as a teacher trainer in her Pilates training and education company JPilates Ltd.

He also trained compehensively with Balanced Body inc, the world's largest teacher training organistaion.

Adrian is a member of the National Pilates Certification Progamme (NPCP). The NPCP is an organistaion that was set up to establish, maintain and promote professional standards in the Pilates industry. Adrian is a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT).

Adrian holds specialist population Level 4 qualifications in Cardiac Rehabilitation, Postural Stability and the Management of Low Back Pain. He also holds a City and Guilds teaching qualification which enables him to teach in the lifelong learning sector.
